Creation of the RISE Transition Program and Google + as an Online PLC
Limited Capacity seats available

We will discuss the creation of The RISE Transition Program, which is a supportive program that serves both regular and Special Education students as they transition back to school from significant absences, be they medical, mental heath, or avoidant in nature.  My teacher, Meg Danielski and I will discuss the tools that we have put in place to allow this successful program to run smoothly, and discuss the things that did not work as well as we had planned.  The evolution continues, and is based on trial and error, teacher/staff buy-in, student needs, and history with other created programs.  Our website allows for program/teacher/student interaction and allows us to collect feedback.

We will also discuss our creation and use of an online Professional Learning Community, utilizing Google +.  This allows us to collaborate, share articles and discuss concepts and general cases with colleagues in our school and other schools, in an effort to stay relevant and clinically and professionally up to date, along with connected in a sometimes isolating field.  So far, we have connected Guidance staffs from Medfield High School and Medfield Middle School, and may expand soon!
